Beef patties Bajan style

Patty Dough Crust  

4 cups all purpose flour

1 tbs turmeric powder

2 tsp sugar

1 1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup butter soften

1 glass cold water

1 egg ( for egg wash)

2 cups butter for dough filling

Beef Filling Ingredients

2 1bs ground beef

1 tsp salt

1 tbsp mix seasoning

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 small carrot (finely chopped)

1 lg onion (finely chopped)

1 bell pepper pepper (chopped)

2 pods garlic (chopped )

Scallion (chopped )

2 Celery (chopped)

Fresh thyme

Scotch bonnet pepper (chopped)

2 tbsp cooking oil

2 tbs butter

1 - 2 tbsp ketchup

Worcester sauce

Browning

Ketchup

Instructions

Add flour, salt, turmeric powder, sugar, baking powder, butter, to a mixing container and make a dough ball using cold water. ( Do not over knead) 

Cover dough with plastic wrap and put in refrigerator to sit for about 1 hour Mix cold butter with 1 cup of flour together, place in refrigerator for 1 hour In a food processor grind onions, scallions, garlic, tomatoes, celery, bell peppers and meat together.

Place a pot over low heat add 2 tbsp of cooking oil along with 2 tbsp of butter. Add season ground beef with herbs and vegetables to pot and mix everything together, string well. add ketchup, Worcester sauce browning, with season salt, black pepper, hot pepper, salt to taste, add more flavors if needed.

Cover and allow to cook over low heat, until cook down

Roll dough on a flat surface, cut into desire size and shape

Add 2-3 tablespoon full of beef filling to dough and seal the edges as shown in Video.

Beat an egg, gentle brush over patty crust

Place on baking tray and bake at 400 degree Fahrenheit for 25 minutes, rotate pan and cook on a lower heat for another 10 mins
